In independent tests Rely+On Virkon achieved inactivation of the coronavirus strain at a 1:100 dilution rate with a 10-minute contact time. This corresponds to test conditions required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and proves the performance and suitability of Rely+On Virkon for practical use.

Rely+On™ Virkon™ BROAD SPECTRUM DISINFECTANT CLEANER POWDER

Rely+On™ Virkon™ broad spectrum disinfectant is ideal for the cleaning and disinfecting of hard non-porous surfaces. It is not only proven effective against common disease-causing pathogens that affect human health such as, Norovirus, Influenza virus, Salmonella enterica and Campylobacter jejuni, but also it is efficacious against prevalent hospital and food-borne pathogens such as MRSA, VRE and RSV, Hepatitis A Virus and E. coli 0157:H7.

WHAT IS RELY+ON™ VIRKON™ VIRUCIDAL DISINFECTANT?

The broad spectrum formulation of Rely+On™ Virkon™ is unique. No other disinfectant has the same powerful composition or extensive portfolio of performance and safety testing data. It combines application flexibility with broad spectrum efficacy, on hard surfaces, and in the face of organic challenge. These qualities make Rely+On™ Virkon™ the disinfectant of choice for use in medical facilities, pathology and biosafety containment laboratories, treatment salons and residential homes.

Rely+On™ Virkon™ has fewer handling and use constraints than many other disinfectant products and is not classified as harmful or a sensitiser in both powdered form and in-use dilutions, in accordance with EU legislation on the classification and labelling of chemical preparations.

WHERE TO USE RELY+ON™ VIRKON™?

For use in cleaning and disinfecting hard non-porous surfaces in institutional, commercial and public service facilities including hospitals and nursing homes, field medical units, medical and dental offices, clinics and other healthcare facilities, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) facilities, equipment and gear including respirators, laboratories, schools and daycare centers, food processing plants, equipment and warehouses, correctional facilities, and transportation terminals and vehicles including ships, trucks and trains.

Public Places

· Routine disinfection of surfaces, including floors, walkways, walls, doors and door handles.

Residential Homes

· Routine disinfection of hard surfaces, equipment*, furniture, floors, walls, doors and door handles in treatment and communal areas, corridors and bathrooms.

Users should always check for compatibility with any sensitive materials before use. Do not use on any soft metals such as brass or copper. Not recommended for use on soft furnishings, textiles or carpets.

HOW TO USE RELY+ON™ VIRKON™?

Easy to prepare

Readily soluble in warm tap water, Rely+On™ Virkon™ dissolves into a pink solution, which remains stable for up to 5 days, as a 1:100 solution. Consult your local representative for advice on stability for any alternate strength solutions.

Key structure destroys the microorganisms

Rely+On™ Virkon™ oxidizes key structures and compounds, such as proteins, leading to widespread, irreversible damage and subsequent deactivation/ destruction of the microorganism. Based on this mode of action, there is no evidence to suggest that bacterial disease-causing organisms develop resistance towards Rely+On™ Virkon™ as opposed to some other disinfectant types.

Hard Surface & Equipment Cleaning & Disinfection

The level of disease-causing organisms present after general cleaning can remain high enough to offer a serious disease challenge to patients and staff. Using a disinfectant proven to be effective against viruses, bacteria and fungi, such as Rely+On™ Virkon™, is essential.

CLEANING AND DISINFECTING HARD NON-POROUS FOOD CONTACT SURFACES

Remove gross dirt and prepare a 1% solution according to the dilution table below.

Apply to surface using a sponge, brush or spray device until the surface is visibly clean

Let stand for 10 minutes and rinse with potable water.

Remove gross dirt and prepare a 1% solution according to the table below

Apply to surface using a mop, sponge, brush or spray device until the surface is visibly clean.

Let stand for 10 minutes and air dry.

In cases of fungal contamination of non-food contact surfaces, follow these instructions substituting a 2% Rely+On™ Virkon™ solution.

This product is not to be used on any surface or instrument that (1) is introduced directly into the human body, either into or in contact with the bloodstream or normally sterile areas of the body, or (2) contacts intact mucous membranes but which does not ordinarily penetrate the blood barrier or otherwise enter normally sterile areas of the body.

Virkon™ S does have proven efficacy against ‘animal origin’ Coronaviruses however we would only recommend using Rely+On™ Virkon™ against SARS-CoV-2. Virkon™ S should not be used within Human Health facilities or on medical equipment or devices.

Rely+On™ Virkon™ has been developed specifically for use in the Human Health market sector and, as such, has been tested and proven effective against disease-causing pathogens of specific concern to human health. It is used for the disinfection and decontamination of hard surfaces, floors, walls, doors and door handles, furniture, cabinets, centrifuges and pipette discard jars etc. in: Medical Facilities (Hospitals and Doctors Surgeries), Pathology and Biosafety Containment Laboratories, Treatment Salons, Residential Homes and Public Areas.

With regard to the current global Coronavirus situation, independent tests have proven that Rely+On™ Virkon™ inactivates a closely related surrogate of the currently spreading coronavirus strain. From these tests it can be concluded that Rely+On™ Virkon™ would also be effective against SARS-CoV-2 which is causing the current COVID-19 epidemic at an in-use dilution rate of 1:100.

Conversely, Rely+On™ Virkon™ has not been tested against pathogens of ‘animal origin’ that affect animal health and as such, due to global product registrations and regulatory compliance, it cannot be used for routine biosecurity and emergency disease prevention and control measures in the livestock and poultry production market segments.

Virkon™ S, however, was developed specifically for the animal health, livestock and poultry production market segments where ‘real-farm’ conditions such as the environmental challenges of high organic loading, varying temperatures and weather conditions can have a direct effect on a disinfectants performance.

Virkon™ S does have proven efficacy against ‘animal origin’ Coronaviruses however we would only recommend using Rely+On™ Virkon™ against SARS-CoV-2. Virkon™ S should not be used within Human Health facilities or on medical equipment or devices.

· I have Virkon S at home. Does this protect against the corona virus?

· Is Rely+On™ PeraSafe™ effective against the coronavirus?

Rely+On™ PeraSafe™ has not yet been specifically tested against the human coronavirus. Our recommendation to help prevent the transfer and spread of the organism from inanimate surfaces would be to use Rely+On™ Virkon™ high level disinfectant at an in-use dilution rate of 1:100.

However, Rely+On™ PeraSafe™ ( 16.2g per litre of water, 10 minutes contact time) does have a full spectrum of virucidal activity for its targeted use as a medical device and instrument disinfectant, in accordance with the European test method EN 14476: 2013+A1: 2015. Therefore, it can be concluded that the virucidal efficacy of Rely+On™ PeraSafe™ would be sufficient to cover the control of human coronavirus .

Crisis Scene Disinfection of Hard Non-porous Surfaces:

For bacterial and viral* control: Streptococcus pyogenes, Helicobacter pylori, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella enterica, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus faecalis, (VRE), and Staphylococcus Epidermidis.

For a 1% solution from powder:

· Remove gross dirt. Refer to dilution chart.

· Fill container with required amount of water and add Rely+OnTM VirkonTM powder to achieve solution concentration.

· Cap container and gently shake until powder is dissolved. Apply solution to surface using a sponge, brush, or spray device until the surface is visibly wet.

· Let stand for 10 minutes and air dry.

To Use as an Absorbent for Blood, Body Fluids, or Vomit:

· Cover soiled area with Rely+OnTM VirkonTM powder. Let stand for 10 minutes and scoop into plastic bag and handle as biohazardous waste.

· Follow up with a disinfectant step by applying a 1% Rely+OnTM VirkonTM solution (prepared according to dilution chart) to surface using a sponge, brush, or spray device until the surface is visibly wet.

· Let stand for 10 minutes and air dry.

· Bag containing soil must be disposed of as infectious waste.

· When handling items soiled with blood or body fluids use disposable latex gloves, gowns, masks, and eye coverings.
